Store pearls in a soft cloth sack, separate from your metal jewelry. Clean pearls by wiping with a soft cloth after wearing. Wash occasionally in mild soapy water to rid pearls of acidic oils that are harmful. Have pearls restrung once every two years, if worn often. Do not expose your pearls to chlorinated water. Never clean pearls with chemicals, ammonia or bleach. Do not clean pearls in an ultrasonic cleaner. Finally, make sure that your pearls are the last article you put on when getting dressed to prevent exposure to perfume and hairspray. |
